October - November

Been a while I haven't written anything in this blog. What I've been up to?

I’m officially 23 years old on October. Yes, 23 years old where you can read many articles telling you this and that about being 23 and somehow make you nodded when you read them. I’ll share the link from one of my favorite article about being 23.

I got trapped! At least with my other girls who thought that one of our best friend was about to get engaged cause she invited us without telling anyone what the ocassion was about. And we just knew that it’s her little brother party. Nice way to make us gather again though!

I also got a chance to finally visit and meet some of my friends from the Korea exchange program. Being apart in kilometers and live in different provinces and finally had a chance to see them was just great. I might not get a chance to chat with them since they’re busy mentoring, but to hug and see their smile again was worth the wait. Oh and I just love the 2014 performance, I had goosebumps all the time when I watched their performance.

I’m enjoying the job and being busy at the office is fun (never thought I’d say that though). I got a chance to do the talkshow again (most favorite part of the job) and stayed late until 12 PM at the office for another Late Night Sale. And just yesterday I celebrated the 7th anniversary of my office and it’s my second time to celebrate the birthday. Time flies, eh?

I played sport again! For I don’t know when was the last time I did it and I played badminton with my colleague as a part of the birthday. We didn’t win but at least I got my self sweaty and that’s a good thing!

So that's the recap, it's been a great two months! Lastly, here's my favorite article about being 23 called 'The Brain on 23', read here

Soul Searching

I don’t want to be here in 10 years. I’m just realizing how easy it is to get the perks, the money, the free snacks, and then suddenly I wake up in 10 years and I’m not a writer anymore, I’m a former writer who works in corporate advertising, and that’s not my plan.

Everyone has a plan, so does Hannah Horvath. That’s Hannah Horvath story (25 yo) when she just got her new job as a corporate copy writer in a magazine. She’s been trying to pursue her dream as a writer, whether it’s an e-book or real book, writing is her passion. So once she gets a new job as a corporate writer, she doesn’t count it as a real writer job.

She just realized that after talking to her colleagues about writing. She thinks she’s the only who’s a writer. But her colleagues told her that eveyone there is a writer, who  happened to write a poet and other writing things except ads back then, but still they’re a writer now.

But a slap in the face came from her boss when she replied Hannah’s last quote, “Alright Hannah, there a lot of other people who would love to have your job”.

A slap in the face for Hannah and every early 20s who just got their first job.  Thinking that s/he might not be in a right place just now and might find one good place that follows her/his passion. Or probably just an early 20s who’s overthinking stuffs that they might just forget to be grateful for what they have now.

But to every early 20s who just got their first job, here’s my note (summarized from an early discussion with my boss).

You’re young and you’re probably in a stage of soul searching. You can’t really find what you actually really want in life and career especially. There’s nothing wrong about hopping from one job to another in order to  find out who you really are. You just have to set a timeline when you should stop and commit to yourself, ‘This is the path I want to choose’.

Lastly, thanks to my three friends, I finally have another TV series to watch after How I Met Your Mother. Hello, Girls!

5 Years

What was it like to meet those whom you haven't met for almost 5 years? Just last month, I went to my very first high school reunion. The attendees were class of 2009 for almost 150 people reunited at one time, one place.

Not much changes since the last time I saw them, except for the degree and the new job we have or the make-up we wear and the weight we gain. For the girls, reunion means get your make up on, put your best dress, and wear your wedges and heels while you can. While for the boys, reunion means 'I'll just show up and meet the boys'.

And as I mentioned before, not much changes. We're still the same 150 people who went to the same high school back then, we still share the same laughter and jokes like we're used to. So, I'll see you 5 years later!
